r6xx/r7xx compiz!
Just got it working
It’s still pretty slow due to using memcpy for buffer swaps, but that should get fixed up soon.
mesa from git master, drm kernel modules from my r6xx-r7xx-3d drm branch.

I wonder how many more minutes before Phoronix have an article up.
I bet they have at least 5 links in the story to other articles and stress the slowness

I follow with interest the developments in the graphics infrastructure world, and Phoronix is certainly the easiest way to follow the news, even if it only gathers info from blog posts! :-p
Anyway, thanks Alex for your work! You have lots of people interesting in the work you are leading at AMD/ATI. Keep up the good work!

This is too good to be true
Can you reveal what your patch adds?
Is it OpenGL support?

I tried installing your latest -git drivers on my PC (Radeon HD3870, RV670) with dual-head configuration (2x 1680×1050). They seem to be working, according to glxinfo and Xorg.0.log, direct rendering is enabled. However, glxgearsfails to start with
Mesa: Initializing x86-64 optimizations
Mesa: 3Dnow! detected
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22
and compiz reports:
Trying again with indirect rendering:
Checking for texture_from_pixmap: present.
Checking for non power of two support: present.
Checking for Composite extension: present.
Checking screen 1Comparing resolution (3360×1050) to maximum 3D texture size (2048): Failed.
Is there any way to increase the maximum 3d texture size?
Kernel is 2.6.30.4, debian squeeze, DRM modules and libdrm are from your git tree.

Sorry, I forgot to delete the old (vanilla) DRM modules. glxgears works now. Framerate is about 35fps. However, compiz still fails to start.

make sure the xserver is picking up the new 3d driver since compiz uses an indirect context.
